The GRIHA New Building Variant is a set of guidelines and standards for designing and constructing green buildings in India. It is divided into 8 sub-sections, each covering a different aspect of green building design and construction. In total, the GRIHA New Building Variant has 33 criteria that must be met in order to receive a green building certification. Some of these criteria are related to site preservation and analysis, and must be followed during construction. Others require documentation and simulation-based analysis proof, and must be documented and shared after construction is completed. During the project, I visited the construction site multiple times to ensure compliance with the GRIHA guidelines and standards. I also documented data and performed software-based simulation analysis to verify that the building design met the requirements for the GRIHA 5 star rating. In order to meet these requirements, several suggestions and design iterations were made to the design.
